During special times we often hire limousines to carry our loved ones and ourselves to and from memorable events. As we are planning for a prom, a wedding, or an enjoyable night on the town, we are thinking about looking good, getting there on time, and riding in style.

We are being responsible by having a designated driver. We expect that the limousine company will provide safe, well maintained vehicles and professionally trained, safety conscious drivers. We believe that limousines are large sturdy cars and that limousine drivers are specially trained and specially licensed professionals. The government would not let them be on the road if they were not safe, would it?

Recently we successfully represented a young man who was severely injured when a limousine driver parked haphazardly on a busy street and caused our client's hand to become stuck between the limousine door and a passing bus.

We have covered many serious pedestrian accidents in our prior posts. Pedestrian crashes are a common occurrence in the Bay Area in part because this is one of the most walkable parts of the country. The amount of locals and tourists on the streets combined with distracted drivers makes some of our sidewalks highly dangerous.

Negligent drivers are often not held accountable for causing pedestrian crashes. A recent report by the non-profit Center for Investigative Reporting indicates that drivers are charged with crimes in less than half of all California pedestrian accidents, even when they are at fault.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports that a 50-year-old man has died after sustaining fatal injuries in a Mission Street pedestrian accident. Authorities say that the man was cross Mission Street near the intersection of Valencia last Thursday when he was hit by a SamsTrans bus.

A SamsTrans route 391 bus slammed into the man around 6:30 p.m. and he died of his injuries at San Francisco General Hospital.

Three people were injured earlier this week when big rig crashed into a MUNI train. Authorities say that the accident happened around 6 p.m. on Sunday when a truck made an illegal turn and hit a light rail car.

The truck was reportedly making a prohibited U-turn on the corner of Burke Avenue and Third Street. Three of the train passengers received minor injuries that did not require hospitalization. Regular train service was interrupted for about three hours after the crash.
